  • General Objectives:
    • Reduce sediment and nutrients in the Tippecanoe River
    • Promote “conservation on the ground” through the use of cover crops
  • Total Acreage Enrolled (2014-2016)
    • Fulton: 3,726 acres
    • White: 3,442 acres
    • Pulaski: 7,593 acres

Varieties of cover crops and cover crop mixes in the demo plot include:

  • Rye Grass
  • Rapeseed
  • Clover
  • Austrian Winter Peas
  • Oats
  • Common Vetch
  • Mung Beans
  • Phacelia
  • Sudangrass
  • Oats
  • Radish
  • Black Oats
  • Cereal Rye
  • Collards
  • Kale
  • Buckwheat

The demonstration plot also featured a cocktail mix made up of the following: Cowpeas, Buckwheat, Cahaba Vetch, Oats, Sorghum Sudangrass, Sunhemp, Yellow Blossom Sweet Clover, Pearl Millet, Sunflowers, Enricher Radish, Purple Top Turnips, and Dwarf Essex Rapeseed.
